Solar Panel

The term solar panel is used colloquially for a photo-voltaic (PV) module.

A PV module is an assembly of photo-voltaic cells mounted in a framework for installation. Photo-voltaic cells use sunlight as a source of energy and generate direct current electricity. A collection of PV modules is called a PV Panel, and a system of Panels is an Array. Arrays of a photovoltaic system supply solar electricity to electrical equipment.

Solar Panel:-  Four types of Solar PV Panels:-

• 1)     Mono Crystalline Solar Panel:  Solar cells made of monocrystalline silicon (mono-Si), also called single-crystalline silicon (single-Si). Monocrystalline solar panels have the highest efficiency rates since they are made out of the highest-grade silicon. Monocrystalline silicon solar panels are space-efficient. Monocrystalline solar panels live the longest.
• 2)      Poly Crystalline Solar Panel: This solar panels based on polycrystalline silicon, which also is known as polysilicon (p-Si) and multi-crystalline silicon (mc-Si):  The process used to make polycrystalline silicon is simpler and cost less. The amount of waste silicon is less compared to monocrystalline.Polycrystalline solar panels tend to have slightly lower heat tolerance than monocrystalline solar panels.
• 3)      Thin- Film Solar Panels: Depositing one or several thin layers of photovoltaic material onto a substrate is the basic gist of how thin-film solar cells are manufactured. They are also known as thin-film photovoltaic cells (TFPV). The different types of thin-film solar cells can be categorized by which photovoltaic material is deposited onto the substrate:
• Amorphous silicon (a-Si)
• Cadmium telluride (CdTe)
• Copper indium gallium selenide (CIS/CIGS)
• Organic photovoltaic cells (OPC)
  
  
• 4)       Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV): Building integrated photovoltaics can be facades, roofs, windows, walls and many other things that is combined with photovoltaic material. For most homeowners it`s simply way too expensive.
